THORN 2.0

Hey Thorns,

Big update with a big file! I've been tinkering on THORN now for a while, with the goal of eventually making an omnibus version of the game with the parts that I was happiest.

THORN 2.0 is that, and the file that I just uploaded to the itch page is the foundation of that omnibus. It's not totally done. I'd like to tinker with layout more, add 3 more masks, improve the character sheet, and add more enemies. As those get completed, the file will get updated.

A few things to note about THORN's future:

1. You might have noticed that THORN Crawl and the hexmap almanac are no longer on the game's page. That's because after some careful consideration, I realized I really didn't like that direction for the game. I don't play hexcrawls, so I don't know why I thought it was a good idea to try forcing THORN into being one. But I do have map plans!

2. Map plans! I want to write a setting book, tentatively named the Obron World Almanac, or something like that. It will contain a world map I've made, and tons of information about all the different regions. There will be points of interest that you can travel to, and lots of stuff for the GM to pull from. If you've ever seen UVG, that's a general direction I'm going for. That's much more in line with the sort of world building and prep I normally do anyway, and I can't wait to make it one piece at a time. It will also include more relics, masks, enemies, and more, each themed to the region of Obron they come from.

THORN will get growing and getting better, and eventually I'll run a crowdfund for the printed book (since this has really blown up in size). But that's future Spencer's problem. For now, let's all go for an adventure.

Excited to see where you’re taking the game. A little sad since I just bound all the previous version documents into a wire bound booklet (inspired by the crawl release 2 weeks ago). But it’s important to follow your vision!
