Dragon Slayers
A downloadable fantasy TTRPG
You are a Dragon Slayer
Welcome to a game of fantasy, dragons, and adventure! This is Dragon Slayers. Gather up your adventuring party of fellow heroes and embark on quests across the land. Slay dragons, delve dungeons, and look good while doing it.
Your adventures start now.
Dragon Slayers is a high fantasy TTRPG by Gila RPGs using the Slayers system he first released in 2021. Each class plays with their own unique set of rules, allowing everyone at the table to shine in their role in the adventuring party.
Dragon Slayers takes the original rules of Slayers, updates and adds to them, and brings it all to a classic high fantasy setting.

How It's Played
Dragon Slayers uses a simple 4+ system to create an action filled session that moves quickly. What sets Dragon Slayers apart from other RPGs is its emphasis on asymmetrical combat. Each class in the game uses completely different combat mechanics than the others, allowing the players to have an entirely unique experience at the table.
In this game you will find:
- Complete rules for playing Dragon Slayers. Everything you need in one book.
- 8 classes to choose from: Bard, Barbarian, Cleric, Fighter, Ranger, Rogue, Warlock and Wizard
- Advice for GMs on how to run a game with an asymmetrical twist
- Over 30 different monsters to hunt (including dragons of course)
- Rules for converting your Slayers into Heroes, and your Heroes into Slayers
If you're familiar with Slayers, there have been some changes! Here are the highlights:
- Items! Your characters carry magic items with them on their quests
- Wealth! Your party collects gold to spend during their time between quests
- Even greater class variety! Classes vary in the number of actions they have available to them, allowing you to choose the class that matches your preferred complexity

Slayers Compatible
Dragon Slayers was designed to work alongside existing Slayers releases. With just a few tweaks, you can transfer your characters between the two games, or use existing Slayers material in your Dragon Slayers campaign!
Rules for converting characters between the two games can be found in the Dragon Slayers rulebook. All of the monsters found in Slayers work in Dragons Slayers already!

Do you have an official stance for licensing? I love both slayers and dragon slayers and I had an idea for a full system hack.
I'm not done reading the game, but for now it's a very good game !
I'm not totally sure I like the complexity it adds to the Slayers base, which made the game and its focuse very very clear, but all those options are interesting. The changes around type of Skills is a good thing imo, Slayers had a bit too many, but at the same time I'm find it really weird there is no "mental" Skill at all, like some runes or old tome reading or history thing is gonna be useful at one point or another, and lacking a Skill for feels not totally confortable.
It's impressive you could come up with 8 classes so different from themselves and the ones from Slayers ! I've just started reading the Dragon chapter, and I'm hyped. Very fun to have this very interetsing addition "hidden away" almost at the end of the book, it's a fun surprise ^^
A few problems I've noticed :
- The page 81, about "Create New Class Advances" is supposed to have "Examples" but they are missing I think ?
- Also, the Characters sheet are exported as for a printed book version, with the border "bleeding" inside their neighbor's page, I guess it' a mistake. It's not very suited for the kind of "print at home" or viewing on a screen it is inteded for.
Gotta pick this up ASAP. My group had a blast with Slayers, the game was easy to prepare and to host, and super fun to play.
I'm so glad to hear you enjoyed Slayers!
Extremely cool system—simple, but with exceptional tactical depth. I’m looking forward to running this for my friends soon!
A new video highlighting three things to love about Dragon Slayers!
Slayer was one of the first indie games I ever bought, and I'm truly excited about this adaptation of the system to the classic fantasy formula. It looks incredible.
Thank you!
It's finally out! Ever since I had so much fun playing Slayers, I've been eagerly awaiting the fantasy version! Congratulations!
Thanks!
Dragon Slayers is the game I *wish* I played back in high school. All of the character classes you expect in a high-fantasy dungeon crawling RPG of any sort are here - and they are all different, interesting, and dynamic. There have been times when I've read a ttrpg and thought "oh yeah, I'm excited to play this particular class/playbook/archetype" etc. - but with Dragon Slayers I felt that way about EVERY one of the character options.
It is laser focused, quick to learn, easy to understand, and full of fun and relevant options. Monsters are thematic without needing long wordy entries. Each of the Dragon "boss" monsters featured is wildly different and all look like a blast to run or to fight.
I'll just say how I really feel here: if you are playing D&D right now, you probably want to play Dragon Slayers instead - you just don't know it yet.
Thank you so much for the review!
This is an awesome game, very clever and fun to read! I'll repeat: kudos, master alchemist!
Thank you for the kind words!
this looks really good…can you please tell me the dimensions of the print book? Thanks.
The book is half letter, or digest. So 5.5" wide by 8.5" tall.
Thanks (old man eyes) I’m better of printing a pdf double size 🙂
